When building journeys for end users in GBG GO, you select modules to define verification tasks, then choose variants to specify how those tasks should be configured. This guide clarifies the relationship between these two concepts.

Modules

Modules are functional components within a customer journey that perform specific verification tasks. Each module is designed to handle a particular aspect of the verification process, such as identity verification, fraud detection, or data validation. For example, a Digital Identity module determines whether the end-user’s name matches the name extracted from a document. This includes comparisons with nicknames and abbreviations of the subject’s name.

Variants

Variants are different versions of a module that are tailored to specific regions, compliance requirements, or business needs. Each variant within a module offers unique configurations and rules that align with local regulations or industry standards. When you select a module to add to your journey, you’ll see a list of available variants for that module. The variant name typically indicates its configuration, for example:
  • UK: Single match all sources
  • France: Single match
  • Spain: Single match
In practice, you cannot select a variant without first selecting its parent module. Each time you add a module to your journey, you must also select which variant of that module to use.

Variant availability

Not all modules have multiple variants. Some modules may only have a single variant available, while others offer several options to choose from. The availability of variants depends on the module’s functionality and the specific requirements it addresses. When configuring a module in your journey, always review the available variants to ensure you select the one that best fits your verification needs and compliance obligations. Modules and variants marked with an orange warning icon in the Browse and add modules section require activation by the GBG team. Contact your account manager to enable these modules for your organization.
